Introduction
Rivers are an important part of the European Green Deal of the European Union and of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. Green Deal literally means green pact: a package of concrete measures - laws and investments - to be implemented over the next thirty years, always with 2050 as the time horizon. The objective? Set in motion what have been defined as “ambitious interventions to address climate change and environmental challenges, with the aim of limiting global warming to 1.5ºC and avoiding massive loss of biodiversity.”
